Free Pet Adoptions Offered at April 18 Event

ALACHUA COUNTY – Alachua County Animal Resources is partnering with Parks Motor Group of Gainesville to host a free pet adoption event aimed at helping dogs and cats find permanent homes.

The “Adopt a Pet” event is scheduled for Saturday, April 18, 2026, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Parks Ford, 3333 N. Main St. in Gainesville. While the event will be held in Gainesville, organizers say residents from across Alachua County are encouraged to attend.

As part of the partnership, Parks Motor Group will cover all adoption fees, allowing community members to adopt pets at no cost. County officials said the effort is intended to remove financial barriers that can prevent potential adopters from bringing home a pet.

Alachua County Animal Resources staff will be on site with a selection of adoptable dogs and cats. Staff members will also be available to guide visitors through the adoption process and provide information on responsible pet ownership and care.

The event reflects a broader collaboration between the county and a local business to expand adoption opportunities and support animal welfare efforts throughout the community.

Organizers say events like this play a key role in connecting animals in need with families ready to provide long-term care, while also helping reduce shelter populations.
