Janice Davis Skipper, 81, longtime High Springs resident, passed away Tuesday evening, Oct. 15, 2013 at her daughter’s residence in Dunedin, Fla., where she resided for the past 10 years.

She was the daughter of the late Dr. Emmett E. Martin and Esther Phifer Martin born in the community of Haines, Fla. She was retired from General Electric as a battery assembly operator, a member of First United Methodist Church of High Springs having taught Sunday School for 25 years, served as Sunday School Secretary, a member of Morning Glory Circle and served as Girl Scout leader.

She was preceded in death by husbands Ira Judson Davis, Sr. and Samuel Donald Skipper, and son Ira Judson “Jus” Davis, Jr.

Survivors include daughter Connie (Allen) Dugan of Dunedin; sister Margaret Anne Steele of Roanoke, Va., granddaughters Sarah (Ted) Ricca of Palm Harbor and Lydia Dugan of Dunedin.

Graveside Funeral services were conducted at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 19, 2013 at the High Springs Cemetery with Revs. Morris Beck and Alan Patz officiating. Visitation was Friday, Oct. 18, 2013, 5 – 7 p.m. at Evans-Carter Funeral Home, High Springs, Fla.
