Warren Lamar (W.L) McCormick, 87, longtime High Springs resident departed this life at his home Saturday, July 6. He was the son of the late Haddock and Mamie Colson McCormick, and a native of Plant City, Fla. Mr. McCormick was a 1945 graduate of Fort White High School and a veteran of the U.S. Army, retired Agent/Clerk/Operator at Seaboard Coastline Railroad. He joined First Baptist Church of High Springs in 1969 having served as a deacon, on the Tellers Committee, Young at Heart Choir and the Youth Committee.

He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Eloise Dukes McCormick; two daughters, Debbie Alligood (Bruce) of Alachua, and Sandi Spencer (David) of High Springs; sister-in-law, Diane Alligood of High Springs; brother-in-law, Gerald Dukes (Joyce) of Lake Butler; two granddaughters, Kristin (Matt) and Lauren, Harold McCormick of Live Oak, raised as his son; David McCormick, Tucson, Ariz., Lewis McCormick, Live Oak; Alan Alligood, High Springs; Sandra Greek, Fort White and a host of nephews and nieces.

Funeral Services will be conducted at 3 p.m., Tuesday, July 9 with visitation one hour prior to the service at the First Baptist Church of High Springs. Interment will be in the High Springs Cemetery under the direction of Evans-Carter Funeral Home, High Springs, 386-454-2444. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of the Nature Coast, 120 N Main St., High Springs, FL 32643.
