I want to offer my sincerest congratulations to Alachua’s City Manager Traci Cain and dedicated staff for the exemplary audit the city received this past Monday for the period ending Sept. 30, 2011. It was truly a team effort for which they should be extremely proud.
I too, am so very proud of the tremendous improvements we have made over the past two years. Directors and staff have gone “above and beyond the call of duty” in righting the city’s financial ship. Having two months of operating expenses in reserve may not seem like an accomplishment to many outsiders. However, considering where we were two years ago, it is a remarkable feat.
I appreciate staff’s continuing efforts on behalf of all of the fine folks who call “The Good Life Community” home. I also offer my gratitude to all financial staff members for their efforts in keeping the city commission informed of the day-to-day financial health and inner workings of the city.
I am convinced that “transparency” is first and foremost in all of the city’s administrative, financial, and operational functions. The residents of Alachua can be assured that the city’s commission and staff take operating “in the sunshine” seriously. Thank you again for your leadership of the best municipal staff in Florida. Great job!
