Local credit union holds teacher of the year contest

AC_Beyond2012EALACHUA – SunState Federal Credit Union is running a contest to find the Teacher of The Year in five counties: Alachua, Columbia, Dixie, Gilchrist, and Levy.

One winning teacher from each county will receive an iPad2 and a SunState Teacher of The Year plaque.

“We just thought this would be a good way to show our appreciation for the local teachers who are doing so much for our community” said Brett Wachtstetter, Online Marketing Representative for SunState Federal Credit Union.

The credit union will also be entering the people who nominated a winning teacher into a drawing to win an iPad2, and selecting one voter at random to receive $100.

“We are hoping to encourage more people to show teachers that they are appreciated.” said Wachtstetter.

Teachers can be nominated by anyone and the winner will be decided by people voting on the Credit Union’s Facebook page,

The contest will run until May 15, 2012.

SunState has been a longtime supporter of local teachers with their 10forTeacher$ program and through various sponsorships of school related programs.
